The natural deposits of algae are used up for making algae fuel which is a good alternative for fossil fuel. Many companies are doing hard efforts to make it possible for this kind of fuel to be available commercially for the general public. However even this kind of fuel does not lessen the carbon dioxide in the air when it burns although it is high in oxygen production itself when in its natural form. It is a natural element like many other things and it is found in abundance all over the world.

Scientists and many companies are practically experimenting on making different things from algae. Vegetable oil, biodiesel, bioethanol, biogasoline, biomethanol, biobutanol and other biofuels are being tried to be obtined from different algae deposits. They are thinking about cultivating it all over the barren lands which cannot be cultivated for any kind of crop. A statistical data has proven that about an acre of soya bean produces lesser oil than a canal of algae grown specifically for the purpose. So, in the coming years farming will get cheaper and vegetable oil as well.

In United States it has been calculated that if they cut down all the other oil reserves and start producing algae oil which would be farmed by them, only 0.42% of their total land can produce the amount of oil which would be enough for producing oil that would be enough to provide the US public all they need. If their formulas work, it is expected that petroleum would vanish in the US for the local use by 2018 and things would be taken up by this kind of fuel which will be cheaper and easy to obtain as well. It has also been calculated that 300 times more oil can be obtained from an acre of algae than any other crop like the soya bean, rape sedd, palms, etc.
